Semi-automated Bioprocessing Systems

The SciLog NFF is a configurable semi-automated single-use bioprocessing system for normal flow filtration for use in discovery to production scale operations.


When implementing a single-use bioprocessing solution, various levels of automation are available eliminating the need for constant monitoring. Parker incorporates SciLog technology within scalable, bioprocessing systems for upstream and downstream applications configured for your manual, semi-automated or fully automated processes.

The SciLog NFF is a proven platform for use in discovery to product ion-scale applications including viral filtration, cell harvesting, chromatography column loading, as well as clarification and sterilization. Tile system automatically monitors, adjusts and documents pressures and flow rate to optimize processing times and maximize filter life and efficiency. Using the onboard sensors and automation we eliminate the need for constant monitoring during production runs. Via a color touch screen and pre-installed operational sohware, users have the ability to execute a normal flow fihration process via four different control methods: Constant rate NFF, Constant Pressure NFF, R/P Stat Method and Manual Operation. The system can optimize your fihration throughput by up to 30 percent while communicating real time process parameters via OPC to a plant historian. Up to two optional integrated scales can be used to deliver fihration precision by gravimetrically controlling operations.

The SciLog® NFF System incorporates the patented R/P Stat Method, an innovation which has resulted in significant improvements in fiher life expectancy. This is done by selecting t hree simple process variables including initial flow rate, maximum inlet pressure, and minimum flow rate. By using the R/P Stat Method, as the membrane begins to foul, the NFF system dynamically adjusts t he flow rate which allows additional product to pass
through tile filter before the membrane fouls. As a resuh., the R/P Stat method can provide up to 30% increase in fihration yield.
