The Swedish Technology Award aims to highlight, reward, and recognize companies that have made significant efforts to improve production capabilities within the industry through innovation. The Swedish Technology Award is presented in connection with Scanautomatic and ProcessTeknik exhibition in Götheborg, Sweden. This award promotes innovation and encourages active sustainability efforts.
To be nominated for the Swedish Technology Award, the product should be of great interest to industrial automation, process automation, and digitalization. In its evaluation, the jury particularly considers the products’ characteristics from a sustainability perspective.
What is unique and innovative about the product/solution?
Pixact brings laboratory quality suspension analysis to inline use. Continuous real-time numerical data of suspension properties enable a higher level of process control, optimization, facilitates streamlining of processes, thereby increasing efficiency, reducing wastage and promoting sustainable practices.
Principle
Pixact process monitoring system is based on optical imaging. The imaging system is integrated to probe or flow-through section to monitor the properties of particles, bubbles or droplets in the dispersed phase of the suspension. Real-time image analysis is used to transform the microscope quality image data into numerical data, such as particle size distribution, suspension homogeneity, and gas content.
Technology
Camera-based measurement system with micrometer scale resolution using proprietary illumination technology. The measurement area is illuminated using a powerful light source with a precise control of the lighting duration (in microseconds), thereby providing high quality images of fast moving processes and real-time measurements of the process properties.
Use
System is connected to the factory automation system producing real-time data for quality control and automated process control. Typical applications are separation, mass-transfer and filtration processes. The technology can be used to increase process efficiency and yield, reduce down-time, and increase product quality by bypassing the need for offline measurements.
Performance
Pixact measurement systems are modular in nature and are designed to operate in a wide range of process conditions, acquire high quality image data, provide accurate measurements from the process, and control the process using automation interfaces.
